The members of the House of Representatives with the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Lagos State have rejected the cancellation of the election results held in the state by the National Working Committee (NWC).
The APC National Working Committee panel, chaired by Clement Ebri, cancelled the election declaring it null and void.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Lagos chapter of the APC, Tunde Balogun, opposed the NWC and declared Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the winner.
A member representing Kosofe Federal Constituency, Agunsoye Ojo, declared the cancellation by the NWC as a very costly error insisting that the election was free and fair.
He said, “I don’t know the reason given for this cancellation, but the party must tell us.
“Even the Deputy Governor of the State came out to declare her support for the choice of the party, yet they are talking about cancellation.
“If you conduct this election 10 times, the result will not change; this is like wasting time”.
Another member representing Ikorodu, Jimi Benson, told the media that the primary was like a mock examination.
He said, “You sit for a mock examination, your result is not likely to change in the main examination.
“This election went smoothly and the massive turnout of voters was a test of democracy in action.
“This cancellation is unnecessary and if the election is conducted again, nothing will change”.
