No fewer than 71 families of deceased workers of the Lagos State Government have benefited N142 million claims from the Lagos State Group Life/Group Personal Accident Insurance Scheme insured by LASACO Assurance Plc. The beneficiaries are families of the deceased in all Local Government Areas in Lagos State and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB). The Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, said the welfare of workers of the State was a top priority of his administration
Governor Ambode, who was represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Muslim Folami, added that the payment was the second in the series, as the first one was paid in 2013. The governor said, “The government cares for the welfare of workers and promised that what is accrues to the families of the deceased will be paid to them”. The Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Babatunde Rotinwa, urged those in active service to support the government by giving their best, adding that their efforts would not be in vain.
