Mama Taraba’ Wins Governorship Ticket
Aisha Alhassan, Former Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the United Development Party (UDP) for the 2019 election. The former Minister, popularly referred to as ‘Mama Taraba’, defected to the party last Saturday, following her resignation from her ministerial position, an action which followed her disqualification from contesting for the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC). On Tuesday, Olusegun Adeleye, Returning Officer and National Publicity Secretary of the UDP, declared her the winner of the governorship primary which took place in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, after she polled 246 votes.
Buhari Writes Senate, Wants Magu’s Chief of Staff Confirmed as EFCC Secretary
President Muhammadu Buhari has written the Senate requesting that Mr Olanipekun Olukoyede be confirmed as the Secretary of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. In a letter dated September 10, 2018, which was addressed to Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, Buhari asked that Olukoyede, who is currently the Chief of Staff to the acting chairman of the EFCC, Mr Ibrahim Magu, be confirmed in accordance with Section 2 of the EFCC Act. The letter read in part, “In compliance with the provision of Section 2 (3) Of the Economic and Financial Crimes (Establishment) Act 2010, I write to request for the confirmation of Olanipekun Olukoyede. for appointment as the secretary of the EFCC.
Oshiomhole Supports Sanwo-Olu’s Candidacy for Lagos
All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole has dismissed fears that Tuesday’s governorship primary in Lagos State, which produced Babajide Sanwo-Olu as candidate, was controversial. He said the party leadership was in control of the shadow election. Omo-Agege Leads In APC Delta Central Senatorial Primary
Senator Ovie Omo-Agege is leading in the Delta central senatorial primary of the All Progressives Congress, APC which began in the early hours of today. The voting process which started with accreditation of delegates from the eight local government areas in the senatorial district, was conducted under tight security. The election is being held at Aladja in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State. The APC election committee headed by General Lawrence Onoja (rtd), is said to be peaceful and orderly.

A human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mr. Femi Falana has urged one of the newly-conferred Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN), Mr. Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika, to use his membership of the inner bar to advance societal transformation. Senator Adeleke Makes Shocking Revelations
The candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the just concluded Osun state governorship election, Senator Ademola Adeleke has alleged that the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress, APC planned to kill him at the state capital, Osogbo, during the election. Chevron Commissions Drainage to Fight Flood In Edjeba Community
A 500-metre long drainage funded by Chevron Nigeria Limited under its joint venture arrangement with Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, for Edjeba community, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, has been commissioned. EFCC To Arraign Saraki’s Deputy Chief Of Staff For N3.5bn Fraud
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has concluded plans to arraign Gbenga Makanjuola Peter, the Chief of Staff to Senate President Bukola Saraki, and four others, on allegations of N3.5 billion fraud. Makanjuola, alongside Kolawole Shittu, Cashier to Senate; Robert Chidozie Mbonu, who is at large; Melrose General Services Limited, and a member of its staff, Oboira Amobi would be arraigned before Justice Baba Kuewumi at the Federal High Court In Ikoyi, Lagos, on Wednesday. The EFCC is arraigning them on a 13-count charge bothering on financial fraud.
