MASSOB gives FG one-week ultimatum to release Nnamdi Kanu
A faction of the separatist group, Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign States of Biafra (MASSOB) has issued a one week ultimatum to the Federal Government to immediately release the detained Director of Radio Biafra and Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, or face severe sanctions. Campaigning kicks off for Uganda’s 2016 polls
Uganda’s presidential campaign season opened Monday ahead of a vote due February 2016 pitting the country’s veteran leader against a longtime challenger and a sacked prime minister.
Eight candidates are running in the February 18 poll, seeking to end President Yoweri Museveni’s 30-year rule. Read more
NABBED: Police Arrest 3 Robbers In Lagos
Officers of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), a combat crime unit of the Lagos State Police command, yesterday smashed a robbery syndicate alleged to be terrorizing commuters and motorists around Bourdillion in Ikoyi area of the state.
The suspects, Joseph Edem, 24, Jamilu Musa, 29, and Gambo Yunusa, 30, were arrested where they were perfecting plans to carry out robbery operations. Read more
Abduction: Gunmen Kidnap 68-yr-old Woman In Delta
Unidentified gunmen operating at Emevor, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State at the weekend allegedly kidnapped a 68-year-old woman, Mrs Evelyn Agboro.
Reports said that the armed men, who came in black T-shirts and a Vento Volkswagen car with registration No. AM 518 EFR, drove into the victim’s house where they forced her into their car at gunpoint. Read more
Arrested: 2 Armed Robbers Nabbed In Kebbi
Luck ran out of two armed robbers terrorising Marafa Community in Fakai local government area of Kebbi State after the community took the bull by the horn and laid siege to capture the robbers yesterday.
The two robbers, according to some community members, have been operating in the area, unleashing terror by attacking local people during market days with dangerous weapons. One of the residents, Mohammed Abubakar told LEADERSHIP how they nabbed the two men of the underworld. Read more
KILLING: Robbers Attack School, Murder 2 Guards In Ondo
Suspected armed robbers yesterday attacked Olofin Grammar School, Idanre in Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State and killed two night guards of the school.
A source told LEADERSHIP that after killing the guards, the armed robbers also stole all the computers newly purchased by the state government for the school, which is about 150 metres to a police station in the area.
The source further disclosed that there was no presence of any policemen throughout the time the hoodlums operated in the school. Read more

A swathe of China was blanketed with dangerous acrid smog Monday after levels of the most dangerous particulates reached around 50 times World Health Organization maximums, with energy use for heating blamed as winter sets in.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu meets US President Barack Obama in Washington on Monday in a bid to thaw frosty personal ties, turn the page on the Iran nuclear deal and talk defense.
