A Boko Haram Commander, Umar Abdulmalik suspected to be the mastermind behind the Nyanya and Kuje bombings of 2015 have been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Intelligence Response Team (IRT).
It was also garnered that he was the head of the gang behind the killings of police officers at Galadimawa roundabout, Lugbe and Gwagwalada in Abuja.
He is said to be the overall Commander of Edo and Ondo States’ multiple bank robberies and several killings in Okene Axis of Kogi.
The Head of IRT, Abba Kyari made this disclosure via a social media post which reads:
“Glory be to GOD Almighty: Umar Abdulmalik the Most Deadly and Most wanted Boko Haram leader/Bank Robber/Assassin and Explosive Expert in Abuja, Mastermind of the Kuje and Nyanya Abuja Bombings Of 2015 has been arrested.
“Gang-leader Of Galadimawa, overall Commander Of Edo and Ondo State Multiple Bank robberies, several killings in Okene axis of Kogi.
“He was the Grand Commander Of the Attack and Rescue operations of the Prison in Niger State early this year where he lost one of his eyes During the Operation which led to the escape of over 100 prisoners.
“The most wanted Suspect was arrested by IRT Special team today after he escaped with bullet wounds from Abuja 3 weeks ago when IRT teams arrested 4 of his Gang members and recovered four AK47 Rifles And Hundreds Of ammunitions.
“Today is one of the happiest Days of my Life. Massive Celebration as the Person Responsible for Hundreds of death of Innocent Citizens and Police Officers across the Nation has been apprehended. Kudos to Nigeria Police force, Kudos to IGP Ibrahim Idris, Kudos to IRT.”
