On September 21st, Anita Ukah the representative of Imo State was crowned the new champion of the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, MBGN. Hence, she would be representing Nigeria at the Miss world beauty pageantry which take place in China.
The MBGN event was created to give women a platform to become forerunners in their careers and to also brand their respect personalities. Today, we’ll be looking at the women that competed in this pageantry and have gone on to build a reputable sublime standard for themselves in the world. Here are 10 MBGN competitors that have gone on to rule the world and carved a niche of their own:
Agbani Darego: Agbani won the 2001 Miss world contest and finished in the top 10 of the Miss universe becoming the first native African to win the competition. She has gone on to serve as a brand ambassador for several prominent products in the world such Ford Model and Next Model agency. Agbani is married to the heir of billionaire general Ishaya Danjuma’s son Theophilus Danjuma and they just recently had a baby.
Lilian Bach: The half-Nigerian and Polish beauty queen Lilian Bach has built a great career as an actress worldwide.
Kehinde Bankole: She acted in the mainstream movie October 1st and have appeared in other notable series such as Superstory. She participated in the 2004 Most Beautiful Girl pageant and also won the Revelation of the year award at the 2009 Best of Nollywood Awards.
Regina Askia: Regina Askia was a prominent actress in the Nigerian movie industry in the early 2000s, she is currently based in America with her family and she is also a certified Nurse.
Alex Lopez: In 1993, Alex Lopez finished 2nd at the Most Beautiful Girl contest, she then went on to act in the movie Domitila.
Stephanie Okereke: Stephanie works as an actress, movie director and producer. She participated in the 2002 MBGN contestwhere she finished as runner up. In 2011, she was honored by the Nigerian Government a national honor (Member of the Order of the Republic).
Ibinabo Fiberesimi: Ibinabo made her acting career in the late 90s, appearing in the popular movie Most wanted. She also served as the President of Actors Guild of Nigeria.
Nike Oshinowo: Adenike won the MBGN pageantry in 1991 becoming the first competitor from the Yoruba tribe to win the competition. She went on to become the television host for the Late night show with Nike Oshinowo on AIT.
Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu: Bianca is renowned as a Nigerian politician, diplomat and lawyer, business and multiple pageant titleholder. She is the winner of the 1998 Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria and also won the Miss Africa tournament and is shes best known as the first African to win Miss Intercontinental.
Anna Banner: She won the 2012 MBGN tournament, she was appointed the Special Assistant on Culture and Tourism to Governor Henry Dickson upon her reign. She made her acting debut in the prominent series Super story, in 2014 she had a baby for musician Flavour.
Those are the ten women who emerged from the Most Beautiful in Nigeria competition and built a durable career.
