In Catalonia’s separatist crisis, two pro-independence citizens’ groups have emerged as powerful players, their 100,000-plus members giving them a strong influence on regional politics.
On Monday, Jordi Cuixart, the head of Omnium Cultural, and Jordi Sanchez, the leader of the Catalan National Assembly (ANC), are due in Madrid for questioning by a judge.
They are accused of “sedition” over protests in Barcelona last month.
