Men swapped for murder suspects by police DIG seek N250m compensation (Punch)

After three months and two weeks in police and prison custodies following  murder charges they knew nothing about, the five residents of Ilagbo and Oriyanrin communities in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos have decided to drag the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Mr. Hycent Dagala, to court.

Saturday punch had revealed in a report last week how Dagala had allegedly swapped the names of the five victims – Segun Salami, Samson Abimbola, Sikiru Egunjemi, Aliu Egunjemi and Jimoh Ogunnupe – with those of the actual murder suspects involved in the murders of two residents of Ilagbo during a communal crisis with their Orinyanrin neighbours in May 2017.
