Nigeria awards N14.4 billion Second Niger Bridge contract

The Federal Government has awarded contract for early works on the Second Niger bridge and emergency repairs at the Tamburawa bridge in Kano State at a total cost of N16.3 billion.

Mohammed Abdullahi, the Assistant Director of Information in the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, made this known in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja. Read more

62 persons convicted for drug offences in Edo in 2016 – NDLEA

No fewer than 62 persons have been convicted for various drug offences in Edo State, Nigeria in 2016.

The State Commander of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mr Buba Wakawa, discolsed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Benin on Wednesday. Wakawa said that the figure was 100 per cent higher than the number of conviction by the agency in the state in 2015. Read more

 

Minister describes luggage handling process at Lagos airport as “very problematic”

The luggage handling process at the departure hall of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos, has been described as “very problematic.”

Nigeria to raise 130 bln naira bonds on Jan. 18 -debt office

Nigeria plans to auction 130 billion naira ($426 million) in local currency-denominated bonds on Jan. 18, its first debt sale this year, the Debt Management Office said on Wednesday.

The debt office said it would issue 40 billion naira apiece in bonds maturing in 2021 and 2036, and 50 billion naira of paper maturing in 2026, using the Dutch auction system. Read more

Russia has compromising information on Trump – report

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump was presented last week with classified documents containing allegations that Russian operatives claimed to have compromising information on him, U.S. news reports, said on Tuesday.
