A pensioner believes he can walk again thanks to a statue of the Virgin Mary – and he’s setting it up as a shrine so others can be healed.
Des Fitzgerald, from Limerick in Ireland, claims he has been able to walk unaided for the first time in more than a decade, ever since he bought the the 4’3″ figure.
And he’s so delighted, he’ll be opening up his garden for others to make pilgrimages .
The 82-year-old made the decision to buy the item to mark the centenary of the Fatima apparitions .
He bought the blessed statue for €400 from a shop in Limerick, who acquired it from a convent, reports the Irish Mirror .
