In Game of Thrones they say winter is coming. In Nigeria our own problem is darkness. The country faces more darkness and power woes as power generation has dropped to a dismal 2,800MW.
Dr Godknows Igali, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Power said this was due to vandalism of gas pipelines.
Igali spoke at a meeting with the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Ade Abolurin and relevant stakeholders charged with the protection of power infrastructure.
He explained that the power generation had dropped from a recent peak of 4,500MW on April 3 to 2,800MW presently as a result of recent vandalism along the Escravos pipeline route. Read more
