More wahala for MTN, slammed with N500m copyright violation suit

While still battling the fine slapped on it by the NCC, a N500m copyright suit has been filed against MTN by Abuja based musician Baba 2010. This follows the breakdown of negotiations for an amicable settlement.

Mr Omenuwoma Okson Dovie, professionally known as Baba 2010, filed the suit on Wednesday, 4 November 2015 at the Federal High Court, Abuja.

By letter dated 6 August 2015, Baba 2010 had, through his solicitors Felix, Igelige & Associates, sent notice of copyright violation and demand for compensation to MTN Nigeria  over the sustained violation of copyright to four of his original musical compositions and recordings, including infringement of his moral rights in one of the compositions.
