The Nigerian Telecommunications Commission has decried the high rate of vandalisation of telecommunication infrastructure in the South-East.
Executive Vice Chairman of the Commission, Professor Umaru Danbatta, expressed concerns over the development in an address on the NCC Day at the 2016 Enugu Trade Fair.
Danbatta, who was represented at the event by the Director, Public Affairs, Tony Ojobo, appealed to state and local governments in the zone to help address the problem. “There are reports that incidence of vandalisation of telecom infrastructure is very high in the South-East.
“This is another opportunity to call on the state, local governments and communities in the South-East to support the NCC by easing the right of way for the provision of telecom infrastructure, and to be vigilant over such infrastructure,” he said. The NCC boss also urged state governments in the South-East to stop multiple taxations on telecommunication operators. Read more
