Today, Saturday, February 23rd is the Presidential election which was postponed from its original date, February 16th. Nigerians have put the past behind and have amassed various polling units with the intention of deciding who would serve as the head of state for the next four years.
The election has been relatively peaceful and citizens from diverse states are exercising one of their most pivotal fundamental human right, which is to vote.
According to a report by The Guardian, about 72.7 million Nigerians are expected to elect a president that will lead West Africa’s most populous country for the next four years.
Voting has begun in several polling units while some are about to kick-off.
President Muhammad Buhari and his wife, Aisha already engaged in the activity earlier today in Daura, Katsina. While vice President, Yemi Osinbajo already executed his duty as well in Lagos.
The primary candidates for the office of the president of the country are the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressive Congress and ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
