The Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has said no worker was sacked over the strike, which entered its third week this Thursday. He said this was contrary to insinuations in some quarters that the governor ordered the sacking of some civil servants due to the ongoing action.
This was contained in a statement signed on behalf of the governor by his Senior Special Adviser on Media, Adejuwon Soyinka, on Tuesday, a copy of which was made available to our correspondent.
He said the affected civil servants were alleged to have been involved in certain acts of misconduct during the 2016 World Teachers Day celebration on October 5, 2016. Amosun said the state Civil Service Commission was responsible for those dismissed or suspended after they had been given a fair hearing by the panel of enquiry. Read more
