NOLLY SILVER SCREEN MAGAZINE HONOURS AMAKA IGWE
Amaka Igwe lives on.
The director who passed away in April covers the June edition of online magazine Nolly Silver Screen. According to Editor Isabella Akinseye, the magazine “just had to celebrate one of Nollywood’s legends.”
Ms. Akinseye writes about Amaka’s influence on Nolly Silver Screen; and the magazine’s cartoon series Rollicking Nollies is dedicated to the director of such classics as Rattlesnake and Violated. “15 scenes from Amaka’s Life,” an infograph by Gbolahan Adams, also commemorates the titan’s life.
Regular contributors Wilfred Okiche and Agina Eberechukwu return, the former profiling actors who double as screenwriters and the latter discussing Nollywood titles. This edition also features Ms. Akinseye’s AMAA nominated piece, ‘Africa Movie Academy Awards: A decade of uniting, celebrating and rewarding African filmmakers.’
The Africa Movie Academy Awards ceremony itself appears prominently via a comprehensive list of winners and photos of movie stars from the event.
