NPF faults media reports on police postings

The Nigeria Police Force has said that a report in the media caption ‘Protest greets police postings” was malicious and misleading. The NPF Spokesman, Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Don Awunah, on Tuesday said that the report was entirely false, malicious and cable of misleading the members of the public.

He said, “The story is absolutely a figment of the imagination of the writer, however it is pertinent to educate the writer and set the record straight.”

He explained that transfers and postings in the force are administrative and routine aimed at enhancing efficiency of officers. Awunah added that it was misleading to assert that the recent transfers and postings in the police were based on witch-hunting, tribalism and favoritism. He said that the officer alluded to in the report transfered to the headquarters hails from Niger, while the other posted to Lagos, hails from Osun. Read more
