Opposition parties in Ogun State said the polls held in the state on Saturday was fraught with irregularities and violence. A factional state chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, Sikirulai Ogundele, stated that there was violence during the election.
He said, “I want to state that this election is fraught with a lot of irregularities. One of our prominent members, Goodluck, popularly known as ‘Baba Eleja,’ was shot at Ilara-Remo by people believed to be loyal to the All Progressives Congress. He is receiving treatment at Babcock University Teaching Hospital, Ilisan Remo.
Also, a governorship candidate of the Unity Party of Nigeria in the last general elections, Rotimi Paseda, also expressed dissatisfaction over the conduct of the election, describing the local government poll as “a deceit.” Read more
