OpenBookNigeria is a literary outfit commissioned to provide a platform for emerging writers, celebrate established writers and ensure a healthy literary presence. All these are geared towards encouraging reading while humanising the entire literary process.
OpenBookNigeria utilizes the market places available to take reading, literary materials, literary events and information to audiences across the country. This is done via social media (@openbooknigeria on twitter), a blog (www.openbooknigeria.com) and a weekly radio program (on SunriseFM 96.1 Enugu, Fridays 8-9am).
Recently, the organization had taken their literary campaign off air, and offline by organizing her first literary evening. It afforded an added opportunity for a meet and greet with the audience being created via her online and on air efforts
It was an evening of readings, conversations, spoken word and performance poetry and book exhibition, the 1st of its kind in Enugu, Nigeria. Author of relationship rant Diary of a Stupid Boyfriend, Bura-Bari Nwilo headlined the event which had the Enugu Literati in attendance. The event, the first in a series of off air, off line events will continue. It is a celebration of literature and stakeholders in the promotion of literature.
OpenBookNigeria is a huge supporter of literary festivals across the country, and will continue in efforts to make the world pay attention to African literature.
