Three days of mourning have been declared following the suicide bomb attack on a children’s park which killed 70 people, mainly women and children.
A Taliban faction swearing allegiance to so-called Islamic State has claimed the bomb, targeting Christians gathered to celebrate Easter in the eastern city of Lahore. Police chief Haider Ashraf said the explosives detonated near children’s rides in the crowded Gulshan-e-Iqbal park.
Almost 300 people were wounded. Punjab’s chief minister Shahbaz Sharif announced three days of mourning and pledged to bring the perpetrators to justice. Read more
