PDP Chieftain Commends Labour For Suspending Strike

Chief Sam Nkire, A chieftain of Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP),  has commended organised labour in the country for suspending its strike action.

According to Leadership, Nkire noted that the strike action was ill-timed, because it came at a time when the country had two major events like the independence anniversary and political parties’ primaries. The one-time national chairman of Progressive People’s Alliance (PPA) however thanked the NLC members, for respecting Nigeria’s Independence Day anniversary and for recognizing the importance of primary elections within the political parties in a democratic country such as Nigeria.

He also advised the organised labour in Nigeria to be relevant in both the democratic and developmental processes and to shift from its traditional role of agitating for bread and butter, to agitating for good governance.
