PDP Convention: Wike Assures Delegates, Observers of Safety
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has welcomed all Peoples Democratic Party delegates and observers to the state, assuring them of safety during and after the National Convention billed for Saturday. In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu, Wike assured the delegates of a memorable stay in the state. He said: “The good people of Rivers State are most delighted and honoured to play host to the distinguished National Delegates of our great party as we elect our Presidential flagbearer this weekend and collectively work towards rescuing our nation from the brink of collapse.
Cloudy, Rainy, Thundery Weather to Prevail On Saturday – Nimet
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy weather conditions with chances of thunderstorms and rainfall activities over most parts of the country on Saturday. NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office (CFO) on Friday, predicted thunderstorms over the central cities like Abuja, Lokoja, Mambilla Plateau, Lafia, Makurdi, Ibi, Jalingo, Bida, Minna, Jos and Ilorin in the morning.
APC Fires Zamfara Exco 24 Hours to National Convention
The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress has expelled the entire Party executives at all levels in Zamfara State. This was contained in a statement signed by the acting National Publicity Secretary of the party, Yekini Nabena, in Abuja, on Friday. The decision came barely 24 hours to the party’s national convention scheduled to hold in Abuja. The statement read in part” By this decision, all supposed Party factions in Zamfara State stand dissolved.
Nigeria Developing Africa’s Biggest ID Database -Osinbajo
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, says Nigeria’s ongoing digital identification of all citizens and legal residents on a harmonised platform will be the largest database in Africa and only second in the world to the Aadhaar of India. Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique identification number issued by the Indian government to every individual resident of India. Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Office of the Vice President, in a statement on Friday in Abuja, said Osinbajo made the disclosure in Lagos.
PDP Convention: Dankwambo Denies He Steps Down For Tambuwal
Gombe State governor Ibrahim Dankwambo has denied the report that he is set to step down for Sokoto State governor Aminu Tambuwal as the People’s Democratic Party picks its presidential candidate for the next general elections.
The primaries will hold in Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, alleged to be in support of Tambuwal, is the governor. Two other aspirants – David Mark and Sule Lamido – were also reported by Sahara Reporters to have agreed to drop their own campaigns to support Tambuwal.
Osun Poll: Aregbesola Reacts To PDP Leaders Protest
Osun state Governor Rauf Aregbesola, Friday, condemned the protest by leaders and members of opposition party,the People’s Democratic Party, over the outcome of the Osun gubernatorial election. Nigeria’s Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara, and the national chairman of PDP, Uche Secondus led a protest to the headquarter of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja. APC to Hold Fresh Primaries in Edo on Today
The All Progressives Congress has said that it would conduct fresh legislative primaries across the 192 wards in Edo State on Saturday. The chairman of the state primary election committee, Hajia Farida Suleiman, disclosed this to journalists on Friday evening, after a meeting with party members at the state secretariat in Benin, the state capital. The National Working Committee had on Thursday cancelled what it described as “authorised congresses” held in the state to elect candidates for the 2019 general elections.

Defunct Skye Bank: Finance Minister Wants CBN, NDIC to Prosecute Directors
The Minister of Finance, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, has urged the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) to investigate and prosecute directors that led to the collapse of the defunct Skye bank. The minister said this in a statement by the Head, Communication and Public Affairs of the NDIC, Mr Mohammed Ibrahim, on Friday in Abuja. According to the statement, Ahmed made the call when she visited the Management of NDIC, led by its Managing Director and Chief Executive, Alhaji Umaru Ibrahim in Abuja.

Father of Miss Leah Sharibu, Mr. Nathaniel Sharibu, has cautioned against the spread of fake news that his daughter, Leah, has been released by Boko Haram. Sharibu said it was fake information that Leah had been released, adding that the development has been affecting his Blood Pressure (BP). In a telephone interview with Saturday Sun, Sharibu said, “It is fake information. You people are rising my BP concerning this issue. My BP is rising up.”
Police Parade 5 Suspected Ritualists with 11 Human Skull
The Kwara Police Command has arrested 5 suspected ritualists caught with 11 human skull, various human bones and hair at Aromaradu Area, Adewole Ilorin. The state Commissioner of Police, Aminu Saleh disclosed this on Friday, while parading the suspects at the police headquarters in Ilorin. Saleh gave the suspects names as: Azeez Yakub, Salima Azeez, Isah Wasiu, Abubakar Isiaka and Soliu Yakub. He said that the suspects were arrested by the police on Oct. 5, following the information received from residents of the area.
I Paid $1m Ransom To Evans, Witness Tells Court
A prosecution witness, Izuchukwu Ezeuko, in the ongoing trial of suspected kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, yesterday narrated how he travelled to the eastern part of the country to pay a one million dollars ransom to the alleged kidnappers of his employer. Ezeuko, a manager in the victim, Mr. James Uduji’s firm, made the revelation while giving evidence before an Igbosere High Court in Lagos.
