The former Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, has won the senatorial ticket for the Benue South senatorial zone on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The returning officer, Soji Akingbade, announced the outcome where Moro polled a total of 462 votes as he defeated his closest rival, Joe Ojobo, who garnered 365 votes. Former Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Mike Okibe was a distant third with 165 votes.
Meanwhile, the Abba Moro Campaign Organisation (AMCO) released a thank you statement to its teeming supporters.
“The Abba Moro Campaign Organization (AMCO) wishes to express its profound gratitude to all the delegates, who voted in the just-concluded Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, senatorial primaries for Benue South senatorial district, which gave our principal a resounding victory.
You endured the rains, the sun, the darkness and the unpleasant condition to exercise your franchise.
Thank you for supporting and electing Comrade Abba Moro to fly the PDP flag in 2019.
AMCO promises that you won’t regret your decision.
We congratulate all those who vied for the ticket, it was a brotherly fight and if we may borrow the word of Gen Yakubu Gowon, it is ‘no victor, no vanquished.’
As we face the greater task ahead, we call on all our stakeholders, especially those who contested with Comrade Abba Moro, to put the election behind and join hands together to ensure that we get the victory at the polls to come 2019.
This victory is for the old people, the youth and all our supporters across the world; a victory for Idoma land.
Thank you Ogbadibo, thank you Okpokwu, thank you Apa, thank you Otukpo, thank you Ado, thank you Ohimini, thank you Oju, thank you, Obi, thank you Agatu.
You all made it happen.
