Two weeks ago, Jite Efemuaye, our editor at sabinews.com wrote a sobering but well received article – ‘Feb 14: No matter who wins people will die.‘ Jite was not being unduly alarmist. She had lived it, escaping death by the whiskers after the 2011 elections in Hadejia, Jigawa State.

Four years later, the cycle of violence seems about to be repeated. We are concerned at sabinews.com about the drum beats of war and threats of violence from all corners of the nation.

As concerned corporate citizens of Nigeria, sabinews.com is launching a new initiative in concert with friends – writers, actors, musicians and ordinary Nigerians under the hashtag #peacenotwar.

The campaign launched at 2pm today and will run until February 28, 2015.

We are asking Nigerians to please vote for peace and not war. Do not allow politicians to bring a knife to that which holds us together. Preach #peacenotwar.

To join the movement, kindly use our logo as your dp on facebook, twitter, bbm and elsewhere. send us your own pictures too and we will publish it as the days go by alongside pictures of celebrities. Nigeria needs #peacenotwar. – Editors
