President Muhammadu Buhari has chided Nigerian elite for remaining silent in the face of alleged misrule of the country by the People’s Democratic Party between 1999 and 2015. He said while they allowed Nigeria to be mismanaged for 16 years without raising a voice in consternation, they had been accusing him of being too slow. According to a statement on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the President spoke at a meeting he had with the Nigerian community in the United States of America on Thursday in New York.
I Am The Right Presidential Candidate For PDP, Makarfi Insists
The former Interim National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and presidential aspirant, Alhaji Ahmed Markafi has said that he is the right presidential candidate for the party. Markafi, stated this yesterday during his visit to PDP Secretariat Birnin-Kebbi, to seek delegates’ support ahead of the party convention. President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday met and congratulated Nigerian-born senator in Italy, Mr Toni Iwobi. Iwobi, who has lived in Italy for 41 years, is the first black man ever to be elected senator in that country. Buhari, according to a statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, met Iwobi on the sidelines of the 73rd United Nations General Assembly in New York, long with a high-powered team from the Italian Senate. “My congratulations to you and to Italy more,” President Buhari told Iwobi, who was elected in March this year on the platform of the far-right League Party.
APC Faction Vows Not To Support Indirect Primaries In Katsina
A faction of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Katsina State, has vowed not to support the use of indirect primaries to select candidates for the 2019 general elections. A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Funke Deborah Adedoyin, is dead. She was aged 56. Adedoyin died on Friday in Abuja after a protracted battle with cancer, one of her colleagues in the lower chamber of the National Assembly revealed. The late lawmaker was a former Minister of Youth Development and later Minister of State for Health.
