Presidency Has Ordered EFCC to Detain Fayose Indefinitely, PDP Alleges

The People’s Democratic Party has alleged that the Presidency has directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to detain the outgoing Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, indefinitely. In a statement issued in Abuja on Monday, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, said information at the party’s disposal and all over the social media indicated that the Presidency had put the Commission on alert to arrest the governor at midnight of Monday (today) and detain him.

EO6: PDP Urges CJN to Protect Judiciary from “Fascism”

The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has called on the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen, to immediately protect the judiciary arm of government from the “unconstitutional and repressive fascist” policies, saying the nation must be guided by the 1999 Constitution (as amended). The party said the admission by the Presidency, on Sunday, that it’s Executive Order 6, as well as the travel ban and trailing of citizens, are devised to aid speedy trial of corruption cases is tantamount to fascism.

2019: Buhari Deserves South-East Support, Says Nwankpa

Chief Donatus Nwamkpa, the state Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) said that President Muhammadu Buhari had addressed critical challenges in the South-East to deserve the zone’s support in 2019. Nwankpa said this on Monday at a news briefing in Umuahia while reacting to alleged media report that South-east would not vote for Buhari in 2019. He said that Buhari had addressed issues affecting the zone, including infrastructure deficit and the second Niger Bridge within in his first tenure.

 Okorocha, Masari Silent After Meeting With Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday met behind closed doors with Governors Rochas Okorocha of Imo and Aminu Masari of Katsina states at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the President met separately with the respective governors in his office and the agenda of their meetings was not made known to the public. It would be recalled that Okorocha, who is the chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, had, on October 10, met with the President alongside four other governors on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress.

A former governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori has said that his experience in the United Kingdom, made him lose faith in the ability of its judicial system to dispense justice without malice. Ibori said this on the heels of reactions trailing his earlier statement where he said the British judiciary was biased. A statement by his Media Assistant, Mr. Tony Eluemunor, said his conviction in the UK was a miscarriage of justice. The statement reads: “Let me re-state unequivocally what I stated in my application for leave to appeal my conviction at the Court of Appeal. I continue to hold that I am a victim of political persecution.

FG Targets Northern Nigeria Through AKK Gas Project

The Minister of state for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, on Monday said the country was looking beyond the Niger Delta in its effort to find alternative source for gas supply. Kachikwu disclosed this at a breakout session at the ongoing Nigerian Gas Association 11th International Conference and Exhibition in Abuja. The minister was represented by his Senior Technical Adviser, Upstream and Gas, Mr Gbite Adeniji.

President Muhammadu Buhari, Monday, felicitated with the Alaafin of Oyo,  His Royal Majesty, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, Iku Baba Yeye, on his 80th  birthday. President Buhari, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chief Femi Adesina, said he joined  the Council of Obas and Chiefs in Oyo State, Traditional Council, family and friends of the Alaafin of Oyo, who is heir to the historic Oyo Empire, in celebrating the landmark age.

Late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti’s son,  Seun Kuti, has attacked American rapper and Kim Kardashian’s husband, Kanye West,for claiming Fela’s spirit flows through him. The American rapper made the statement in a video he posted on Twitter, where he bragged that he’s the best rapper, musician in the world “The music is the best on the planet. I am the best living recording artiste. We, rather, because the spirits flow through me. The spirit of Fela, the spirit of Marley, the spirit of 2Pac flows through me. Police Summons PDP Guber Aspirant over Alleged Murder

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kano, Mallam Salihu Sagir Takai, is to appear before Kano state police command for alleged homicide. In a statement issued by the state command spokesperson, SP Magaji Musa Majiya, Monday said Takai was invited to answer questions at the Police headquarters in Kano over an alleged murder of a 70-year-old man. “Takai had been invited to report to the state police command on Monday (today) for interrogation in the convoy wielding a long knife descended on the 70-year-old passer-by and stabbed him on the head, inflicting grievous hurt on the man.’’ the police PPRO said.

Facebook Will Ban False Voting Information during Midterm Elections, Report Says

In an effort to battle voter manipulation on its platform, Facebook will reportedly ban misinformation about voting leading up to and during the US midterm elections in November.  The company will ban “false information about voting requirements and fake reports of violence or long lines at polling stations,” according to Reuters. Facebook executives, including cyber security policy chief Nathaniel Gleicher, reportedly told the publication about the new policy.

Air India Flight Attendant Falls from Plane

An Air India flight attendant has been injured after falling from the door of a parked aeroplane at India’s Mumbai airport. Harsha Lobo was preparing the flight for boarding to Delhi on Monday morning when the incident happened. Ms Lobo, 52, suffered a fracture and other injuries and has been taken to a hospital. Air India, the country’s national carrier, said in a statement that it was investigating the incident.

Fire Breaks out at Historic Skibo Castle near Dornoch

A fire has broken out at Skibo Castle, west of Dornoch in the Highlands. Six fire appliances were sent to the luxury resort after an emergency call made at 20:18. The fire appears to have started in a chimney and has affected the roof space of the historic building. There are no reports of any casualties. Khashoggi, a prominent Saudi dissident, went missing after walking into the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2. Turkish officials said they have proof he was murdered and dismembered by a team of Saudi agents, a charge the Saudi government vehemently denied.
