The ongoing Federal Executive Council (FEC) is being presided over by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbanjo. The attendance in this case has raised a few eyebrows. In the same event on August 15, the number of ministers in attendance came up to 28.
This time, however, there is a significant reduction to 14, exactly half the previous number.
This, though, is partly because the president, Muhammadu Buhari, is away in New York attending the UN General Assembly function. The ministers he travelled with include Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami; Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole; Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah; Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma; and the Minister of State for Environment, Ibrahim Jibrin.
The ministers neither in attendance nor on the trip with the president remain unaccounted for. More details would come to fore after the meeting, as the number of ministers that should normally be on attendance is 35.
