Restriction of Movement of 50 Nigerians: PDP, CUPP, Blast Buhari
The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, and the Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP have called on Nigerians to reject “in its entirety” the attempt by the President Muhammadu Buhari to foist a full-blown fascism on the nation beginning with the placement of travel restrictions on 50 Nigerians. The party said the step is clearly targeted at members of the opposition parties, perceived political enemies of the President, well-meaning Nigerians, including members of the business community, religious leaders, former political leaders and traditional rulers, who are perceived to be aversed to President Buhari’s re-election bid.

I Will Be A Listening Governor – Sanwo-Olu
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Saturday said he would run a government based on the wishes of the people if elected. He made the pledge at Ikeja while speaking during a ‘Thank You’ visit to party members in the Lagos West senatorial zone. The APC candidate said his policies and programmes would be based on the yearnings and aspirations of the people. He added that he would always keep a listening ear in serving the state. Sanwo-Olu, who spoke in Yoruba, said he was seeking the number one seat in the state out of the passion to serve the people and take the state to greater heights.
Buhari Commissions 62 NAF Cadets In Kaduna
President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday commissioned 62 pilot officers and second lieutenants of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) into the Nigerian Air Force (NAF). The president said the 62 cadets’ addition into the NAF would further strengthen the personnel needed by the force in its responsibility to protect Nigeria’s territorial integrity. Mr Buhari was represented by the Chief of Air Staff (CoAS), Sadique Abubakar, at the ceremony which held at the NAF base in Kaduna. According to him, it was the first time in recent past that NAF regular cadets in their final year are given basic specialist training in their various allotted Air Force specialties.
2019: Alao-Akala Picks Prof. Olaiya as Running Mate
Former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, the governorship candidate of African Democratic Party in Oyo State, has picked Professor Abideen Olaiya, as his running mate for the 2019 governorship election. This information was contained in a statement signed by Mr Abraham Ojo, Alao-Akala’s Chief Press Secretary and made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Saturday. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Olaiya, an Associate Professor of Crop Eco-physiology, was a governorship aspirant of Accord Party in the state before his appointment.

The Chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum and governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, has expressed shock over the choice of former governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi, as the running mate to the presidential candidate of PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Umahi said the former Anambra governor was nominated without due consultation with the leaders of the zone. He said the earlier statement quoting him as congratulating Peter Obi was never with his knowledge and dissociated himself from the statement, saying that the position of the entire South East zone has always been that any position zoned to the South East must be deliberated upon by the leaders of the zone.

Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, has visited Umuaduru and Umuimo villages in Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area after the pipeline explosion that killed over 50 persons. The Governor directed the Commissioner for Petroleum Resources, Hon. Chizurum Kanu to immediately inaugurate a Commission of Inquiry to unravel the immediate and remote causes of the pipeline explosion that affected two communities and led to loss of lives.

Tiga Hydro Power Plant to Be Completed In November — Ganduje
The ongoing 10 megawatts power plant project being executed by the Kano State Government at the Tiga Dam would soon be completed. Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje gave the assurance on Saturday in Kano after inspecting the project site at Tiga dam in Bebeji local government area of the state. Ganduje said that test-run of 2 megawatts of electricity from the project would be conducted in two weeks’ time stressing that by the end of November the remaining 5.8 megawatts would be completed.

A second wave of the Ebola virus has been confirmed in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, where an initial outbreak has already killed 125 people, a minister said Saturday. The latest wave is centred in Beni, a town in North Kivu near the border with Uganda, said Health Minister Dr Oly Ilunga. “We don’t yet know the scale of it,” he added. “The epicentre, which was in Mangina is now in Beni.” The two towns lie about 20 kilometres (12 miles) apart.
