Rhyme and Reason will this year feature Ezekiel Azonwu from the United States of America among many other performers. Held under the theme: ‘The Eversion’, the Broadway-themed concert will also showcase home-based, as well as new and established performers in spoken word and rap. Daboomsha, Gamie and a host of others complete the exciting list of performers.
This year’s event will take place on Saturday, July 15 by 3pm and 6pm, at the Lekki Coliseum, Lekki Phase I, Lagos.
Atitlola Moronfolu, the curator of the event told Sabinews that the yearly event has been hosted for two years with a focus on spoken word, poetry and rap music. She explained that the event has created grounds for youths to engage, connect and relate to the arts in no small measure. She promised that the third edition of Rhyme and Reason would ‘outclass’ previous editions.
“In 2016, the Dome, Lekki, Lagos hosted ‘The Excision’. There were performances from both local and international artists including Janette…Ikz, Ezekiel Azonwu, Preston Perry, Jackie Hill Perry, Atilola, DJ Mordu, Plumbline, IBK Spaceship Boi and Or.Raw.Day. For those who were there, it was an enlightening encounter, where words were used to reform socially, politically and cultural mindsets. This year, we are going a notch higher than past events. We will make every year a special, more tasteful and lively,” she said.
Rhyme and Reason uses Spoken Word, a fast growing art form to engage youths in the country.
