CCT: Court of Appeal reserves judgment on Saraki’s appeal
The Court of Appeal in Abuja on Thursday reserved judgment in an appeal filed by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, challenging the jurisdiction of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) to trial him.
Justice Abdu Aboki-led other four justices of the appellate court reserve the date after parties had adopted their written addresses. Read more
Ekiti Assembly suspends lawmaker for 180 days
Ekiti State House of Assembly on Thursday suspended a lawmaker representing Ikole 1, Gboyega Aribisogan, for 180 legislative days for alleged anti-party activities.
Police Vow To Apprehend Killers Of ASP Onwumere
The Commissioner of Police in Imo, Mr Taiwo Lakanu, said they have intensified investigation into the murder of ASP Celestine Onwumere. Lakanu, who spoke to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Owerri on Thursday, added that those behind the murder would soon be exposed. Read more
Troops Intercepts and Neutralises Suicide Bomber
Troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE intercepted and neutralized a male suicide bomber at the outskirts of Maiduguri, Borno State.
The terrorist who attempted to infiltrate through the troops forward defences at Jidari Polo general area, came in through Alidawari village about 4 kilometres ahead of Jidari strapped with heavy Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) vest. Read more
FG to establish national agency for cancer control
Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole has announced that Federal Government is tinkering with the possibility of setting up National Agency for Cancer Control (NACC) in Nigeria.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Thursday urged the Nigeria Guild of Editors (NGE) to continue to ensure fair and objective reportage of national issues that would promote socio-economic development and national cohesion.

Western powers blocking Nigeria’s power solution – Adeosun
The Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, has accused western powers of being a stumbling block to Nigeria’s plan to improve power output through the use of coal.
Adeosun said this on Wednesday in Washington during a discussion on the importance of addressing infrastructure gaps in developing countries at the World Bank, International Monetary Fund General Meetings. Read more

The Police Command in Kaduna State has confirmed the release of the immediate past Minister of Environment, Mrs Laurentia Malam, and her husband, Pius, who were kidnapped on Monday.

Court Remands 21-Year-Old In Prison For Allegedly Stabbing In-Law To Death
An Evboriaria Magistrates’ Court in Benin on Thursday ordered remanded a 21-year-old man, Lucky Igbineyi, in prison for allegedly stabbing his his in-law friend to death.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Caroline Oghuma, who ordered the remand, said that the case file should be duplicated and sent to the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice. Read more
NSE turnover improves by 41.46% in September
The volume of shares transacted on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) in September increased by 41.46 per cent, in spite of the nation’s economic recession.
Statistics obtained from the exchange in Lagos by NAN showed that investors, during the period, traded a total of 7.95 billion shares valued at N47.39 billion transacted in 65,193 deals. Read more
Police promise to nab ex-UI VC’s attackers
The Oyo State Police Command said it was working hard to apprehend the gang of suspected kidnappers who shot former vice-chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof. Femi Bamiro, on Tuesday night.
Sixty-nine-year-old Bamiro, who is presently the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, was alleged to have been injured during a failed kidnapping attempt at his home in Ibadan. Read more
Pro-Patience Jonathan’s protest grounds Yenagoa
Human and vehicular movements along Sani Abacha Road and Isaac Boro Expressway in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, were on Thursday disrupted as hundreds of members of the Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide staged a peaceful protest.
The aggrieved Ijaw youths, who began the peaceful protest about 8am, complained about the alleged persecution of former President Goodluck Jonathan and members of his family. Read more

An Oredo Magistrates’ Court in Benin, Edo State, has sentenced a 35-year-old woman, Oduwa Egbenayabuwa, to two-year imprisonment for allegedly assaulting two policemen.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. RachaeI Ogbevoen, convicted the accused person on Thursday, after finding her guilty on two-count related to assault. Read more
We’re being beaten on international trade deals, says expert
Dr John Isemede, an international trade expert with UNIDO, says Nigeria is really not gaining from its international trade agreements.
Isemede told newsmen in Lagos that many of Nigeria’s trade agreements had even worked to its disadvantage due to poor export capacity in non-oil and low industrial capacity. Read more
Access Bank Plans to Sell 19% Stake in Ghana Unit in IPO
Access Bank Plc, a Nigerian lender, plans to sell a stake of about 19 percent in its Ghana unit in an initial public offering that will begin before the end of the year.
The lender is seeking to raise at least 104 million cedis ($26 million) issuing shares at 4 cedis each, Jacob Aidoo, the head of issuers at the Securities and Exchange Commission, said by phone from Accra on Thursday. Access Bank Ghana Ltd. can sell stock representing as much as 32 percent of the company if demand outstrips supply, he said. Read more

U.S.A presidential candidate Donald Trump has pledged to bring long lost American manufacturing jobs back from China. But he may be too late even for products that bear his family name. A Chinese company that makes shoes for his daughter’s fashion line is moving production to Africa, where labour is much cheaper.
The billionaire tycoon has frequently accused China of stealing US jobs through unfair trade practices and currency manipulation, while simultaneously relying on the country to make Trump-branded goods. Read more
