Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, appears to have beat off competition from his cousin, Sanusi Lamido Ado Bayero, son of the recently deceased Emir, to emerge Emir of Kano.
Sanusi, controversial and cerebral was frontrunner even though as at noon today, reports were circulating that his cousin had emerged Emir.
Controversy may not be far from his reign. As a first class chief, Sanusi who is still under investigation over alleged financial impropriety at the CBN would have to receive the President in audience. Many are wondering whether Goodluck Jonathan would bow before him as he usually does when he visits traditional rulers.
Nasir EL Rufai, former minister, fierce critic of the Jonathan administration and friend to Sanusi Lamido Sanusi may have inadvertently fired the first salvo with a tweet:
BREAKING: Alhamdulillah. The best man has won. SLS is the Emir of Kano. Jonathanians can go jump into the lagoon. – Nasir El-Rufai
