The People’s Redemption Party (PRP) yesterday adopted Sen. Shehu Sani is its candidate for the Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the 2019 election.
Sani recently decamped to the PRP from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) after a long but unsuccessful battle to clinch ticket which was won by Uba Sani.
The chairman of PRP in Kaduna State, Tom Maiyashi, informed journalists In Kaduna at a press conference about the new development.
According to him, Sani has already been registered as a full member of the PRP after his defection to the party.
Maiyashi said by joining the party, the outspoken senator has only returned home because his ideology matches that of PRP.
“I wish to confirm that he is the candidate that will be contesting on our party’s ticket for Kaduna Central Senatorial district. He has been fully registered at his ward, Tudun Wada, in the Kaduna South local government area of the state.
“Senator Shehu Sani’s ideology has always been that of the PRP, so for us, he has just come back home and we are happy he has returned,” he said.
The party chairman revealed that the former candidate for the senatorial seat stepped down for Sani as a mark of respect.
Maiyashi added that the party would write to the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), to substitute the former candidate’s name with that of Sani.
