Stop Misleading People, Buhari Warns Elite

President Muhammadu Buhari has warned Nigerian elites to stop misleading the people through their unguarded utterances. Buhari, who is the visitor to University of Uyo, gave the warning at the 24th convocation ceremony of the institution on Saturday. The President, who was represented by Mr Ibrahim Yakasai, Director of Corporate Communications, National University Commission (NUC), said that development and progress could not thrive in a hate-filled and divisive society. He said universities as home of great thinkers, should give guidance to the communities to enable the people to make informed decisions as we approached 2019 general elections.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun has declared that the alleged plot by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, to cede Ogun State and the government to a ” gang of rapacious expansionists” in 2019 would fail. The Governor who made this known on Saturday night in a statement by Adedayo Adeneye, the Ogun State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, was reacting to comments by Oshiomole on the controversy trailing the primaries of the party in Ogun State.

If You Can’t Pay Minimum Wage, Resign – I Go Dye Tells Governors

Popular Nigerian comedian, Francis Agoda, a.k.a I Go Dye, has shared his thoughts on the ongoing minimum wage issue which has been topping discussions in the country for some time now. According to the humour merchant who is never afraid to eloquently air his displeasure on trending socio-political matters of interest, the current minimum wage  is an insult to the pride of Nigeria as a nation because Nigerian workers are the most used worldwide. “Nigerian workers are the most used workers in the world, other countries work per hour, while Nigerian workers work from 8am-4pm and yet they are paid less than $50 monthly.  When I proposed to Federal Government ‘2017 logic and reason without guns’, here we are today still deliberating on it. Minimum wage is an insult to our pride as a nation.

Don’t Become My Enemy – Omotola Warns Erring Fans

Nollywood super diva and mother of four, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, has gone hard and exacting on fans who condemned her for osting a rather revealing dress she wore to the launch of Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) 2018. The Alter Ego actress had posted the picture on her Instagram page asking her fans and followers to comment either ‘Yah’ or ‘Nah’ depending on their opinion of her dress. As soon as the picture went up, she was confounded with a cacophony of ‘Nahs”. And what must have angered the super star who has close to 3 million followers was the fact that some didn’t end their comments with just ‘Nah’, they went as far as trolling her and dropping comments that were somewhat caustic and unfriendly. For Omotola who doesn’t take prisoners when it comes to expressing her feelings, she gave it back to them as sternly as words can say.

Struggling Salah Does Not Look The ‘Real Deal’, Claims Keown

The Egypt striker has seen his strike-rate drop drastically compared to last season, and Keown believes something is wrong. Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah is still struggling from an injury and looks a pale shadow of the player who took England by storm last year, according to Martin Keown.  Salah smashed an incredible 32 goals in 36 Premier League games in 2017-18 in his first campaign since moving from Roma. In total the Egypt international netted 44 times in all competitions, a mark that saw him mentioned as a hopeful for this year’s Ballon d’Or prize.

Jurgen Klopp aims sly dig at Virgil van Dijk’s finishing after Arsenal vs Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp insisted that Liverpool’s point from their 1-1 draw at Arsenal was a good one, but he lamented Virgil van Dijk’s failure to take three presentable chances that Klopp himself says he’d have scored. Van Dijk saw a first half effort saved by Bernd Leno after controlling the ball on his chest, then he headed against the post after the German goalkeeper had come for a cross and missed. Then in the second period, the Dutchman’s header from a corner was tipped over the top by Leno. James Milner’s strike just after the hour mark was later cancelled out by a terrific goal from Alexnadre Lacazette, with Liverpool left to rue the decision to disallow Sadio Mane’s first half strike which should have stood.

Turkey maintains Halkbank did not violate the sanctions. Erdogan said Trump “said he would immediately instruct his ministers about this.” It was not clear what Trump could do.

Brexit donor Arron Banks lied to MPs about the political work that his insurance company did for his controversial Leave campaign, according to whistleblowers who worked at Banks’s Bristol headquarters during the Brexit vote. Hundreds of emails leaked by former employees of Eldon Insurance and Rock Services to openDemocracy show insurance staff frequently working on the Leave campaign in the run-up to the 2016 referendum.
