Suicide bombers hit Maiduguri mosque, kill eight
Eight people were killed on Monday when a female suicide bomber detonated her explosives at a mosque in northeast Nigeria, in the latest attack in the restive region.
The head of the Borno state emergency management agency, Ahmed Satomi, said the blast happened at about 5:30 am (0430 GMT) in the London Ciki area of Maiduguri, which has been at the epicentre of Boko Haram violence since 2009. Read more
Tinubu visits Kano gov, endorses him for second term
Despite the odds and internal wrangling, the national leader of the All Progressive Congress, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola, over the weekend in Kano, endorsed Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for a second term in 2019.
During his condolence visit to Kano, on Sunday, to commiserate with Ganduje and the people of Kano State over the death of Dr Yusuf Maitama Sule, the APC leader, also used the occasion to condole, with Ganduje, over the death of his younger sister, as well as Malam Yusuf Ali, an APC leader, who recently lost his younger brother. Irate youths attack SEMA rescue team in Maiduguri
A mob on Monday attacked officials of the Borno State Emergency Management Agency, who were on a rescue mission at the scene of a suicide bomb attack in Maiduguri.
The incident occurred at Londonciki-Simari area of Maiduguri, where a female suicide bomber attacked a mosque killing eight worshippers while 15 others sustained injuries.
The youths, who attacked the SEMA Emergency Rapid Response team dispatched to evacuate corpses and render assistance to the blast victims, were said to be angered by the recent increase of suicide bombings in Maiduguri. Read more

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says it will not condone multiple registration for Direct Entry and Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
A statement signed by JAMB’s Head of Public Relations, Mr Fabian Benjamin said in Abuja on Sunday.
Benjamin described the act of multiple registration as a serious offence in the process of obtaining the Board’s application forms presently on sale. Read more

Kaduna pilgrims to commence medical, pregnancy test
The Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, on Monday said it would commence medical and pregnancy test for intending pilgrims to this year’s hajj .
Its Public Relation Officer, Yunusa Abdullahi, who made the disclosure in a statement said that female intending pilgrims would undergo pregnancy test, in addition to the general medical screening of all other pilgrims. Read more

The Nigeria Customs Service has accused some fraudulent bidders of abusing the bidding process of its online goods auction.

The US president was said to have told the Prime Minister that he had not had ‘great coverage’ in the UK and had urged her to ‘fix it for me’, according to a Sunday newspaper.
It was originally reported last month that Mr Trump had informed Mrs May that he did not want to go ahead with the visit if there were likely to be large-scale protests. South Korea on Monday offered to hold rare military talks with North Korea, aiming to ease tensions after Pyongyang tested its first intercontinental ballistic missile.

At least 34 missing after military ship sinks off Cameroon
Cameroon’s defense minister says at least 34 people have been declared missing after a military vessel sank off the country’s Atlantic coast.
Joseph Beti Assomo said Monday that the military has been deployed to investigate. He says helicopters have rescued three soldiers and will continue the search.
Assomo says 37 people were on board the ship, which was on a routine mission to the Bakassi peninsula when it sank Sunday. Read more
AE denies hacking Qatar news agency
The Washington Post cited US intelligence officials as saying the UAE had orchestrated the posting of incendiary quotes attributed to Qatar’s emir that he insisted were fabricated.
The incident helped spark a diplomatic rift between Qatar and its neighbours.

The BBC has revealed Jodie Whittaker will replace Peter Capaldi on Doctor Who, becoming the 13th actor and first woman to play the iconic Time Lord.
Whittaker, 35, is best known for playing Beth Latimer in the ITV drama Braodchurch, along with various film roles, such as St Trinian’s, Attack the Block, and Venus.
Bomb blast hits military vehicle, wounds 17 in southeast Turkey – army
Explosives planted by Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militants ripped through a Turkish military vehicle travelling through southeast Turkey on Monday, wounding 17 soldiers, four of them seriously, the military said.
The vehicle was passing through the Yuksekova district of Hakkari province, which borders Iran and Iraq, when the blast occurred, the army statement said, adding the wounded were immediately taken to hospital.Read more

Gradually, the unbalance immoral equation that governs the approach of some in the West against Islam and Muslims is being uncovered. This unjust equation shows clear and flagrant contradiction where every attack or threat on human life or property, no matter how great or minor, is blamed on Muslims.
