Tambuwal: Sokoto didn’t take N100bn loan in 2017 (ThisDay)

Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, has refuted the rumour making the rounds that he collected a loan worth over N100 billion last year.

Making the assertion Wednesday, at a 2018 state Stakeholders Budget Summit held at Shukura Hotel in Sokoto, Tambuwal disclosed that the state got a total inflow of N73 billion comprising internally generated revenue, Paris Club funds and federal allocation.

He wondered why detractors would go on air and accuse the government of collecting a loan worth over N100 billion in 2017.

“I never collected N100 billion loan. I wonder how these misguided persons are ridiculing themselves in the social media in order to tarnish my image when they do not have facts. What we have done is to seek for soft loans and we followed due process after approval from the state House of Assembly. In fact, some of these loans are deadlocked and we cannot access them.
