The Nigerian Army in a statement released by the Commanding Officer of the 20 Model Battalion of the Nigerian Army, Sani Adamu said it has discovered an illegal training base in Serti, Taraba State.
Sani explained the Special Adviser on Security to Taraba State Governor, Agyo Wapan, had been invited as part of the investigation into the discovery.
The discovery followed calls by concerned residents who reported no fewer than 300 youths were being trained in a public primary school in the area.
He said the discovery followed calls by concerned citizens who disclosed that no fewer than 300 youths were being trained by a security outfit, GS Security Services in a public primary school in the area.
The security outfit is allegedly hired by the Taraba Government to train selected youths as ‘Marshals’.
The camp has been allegedly dismantled while the battalion awaits directives from the army headquarters.
The alarm on the illegal training camp was a sequel to an unusual influx of young men, in their hundreds, from some local government areas into Serti, which is the headquarters of Gashaka Local Government Area.
