The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, on Sunday said it had restored full power transmission to the national grid after a system collapse at 16.44pm on Saturday due to sudden generation loss.
Many parts of the country recorded blackout for several hours at the weekend following the disagreement between the workers at the TCN headquarters in Abuja and the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing.
As a result, the workers, under the aegis of the National Union of Electricity Employees, declared that they could no longer guarantee the supply of power across the country.
The PUNCH had reported on Wednesday that the face-off between the workers and the FMPWH degenerated to the point that the ministry employed the services of armed military and mobile policemen to lock out the employees from the company’s headquarters. Read more
