
A lifeguard trying to snap a picture of lightning striking over the ocean said he’s lucky to be alive. Ethan Riozzi-Bodine was posting a video of the storm to his Instagram account when he was struck by lightning. “They said if I wasn’t holding on to my bike I wouldn’t be here right now because, they said, it grounded me with the rubber tires and the grips,”
Riozzi-Bodine, caught in the storm, had to take shelter under a small storage shed over hang. A broken chain kept him stranded near the Bradley Beach Boardwalk. He said it vibrated from the ground up to his chest. “Now that it is over I can tell you it was cool, but when it happened it was not cool at all,” he said. Read more
