A politician in New Jersey is attempting to pass a bill that would see people fined if they are spotted walking and concentrating on their phones at the same time It’s something we’ve probably all been guilty of – looking down at your phone trying to reply to that WhatsApp message while slowly ambling down the street.
But soon people could actually be guilty of more than holding up the people behind them after a politician in New Jersey suggested that the practice should be made illegal, abc reports. Assemblywoman Pamela Lampitt believes that walking while texting should be banned – as should pedestrians using electronic communication devices on public roads unless they are hands-free.
Her suggestion is that violators should face fines of up to $50, 15 days imprisonment or both, which is the same penalty as that given for jaywalking, an illegal practice in the USA. Read more
