The Movie Industry Loses Veteran Actor, Baba Sala

Veteran Nigerian comic actor Moses Olaiya best known as Baba Sala died during the late hours on Sunday in Ilesha, Osun state.

Baba Sala is renowned as the forefather of Nigerian comedy and he is till date one of the most popular dramatist and comic actor with originality and creativity. He made the comedy genre more interesting and enthralling along with his colleagues Hubert Ogunde, Kola Ogunmola, Oyin Adejobi and Duro Ladipo.

At the age of 82, his death was confirmed by his media assistant Mr Isaac Hastrup. He said:

“Baba has died. He died some minutes to 10pm on Sunday night. His remains had been taken to the morgue. He died of old-age related sickness.

 

“He came to church two Sundays ago and he was the one that said the benediction. Baba has gone to be with the Lord and he will be missed by many people including his fans.”

He would eternally be remembered because his career paved way for prominent comic actors such as John “Mr Ibu” Okafor, Aki and Pawpaw, etc. May his soul rest in perfect peace!
