Three killed as Storm Jake strikes the UK

A 30-year-old was killed in a head-on crash between two vehicles in Didcot, Oxon. Hours later, a 46-year-old died on the Isle of Wight when his Vauxhall Corsa collided with a Range Rover.

Tragedy struck a third time in Surrey when a cyclist was thrown off his bike. Heavy snow hit North Yorkshire, Cumbria, Derbyshire and Herefordshire with more expected today.

Large parts of Britain are on alert for up to four inches of snow and widespread ice over the coming days as a cold front sweeps in from the Atlantic.

Storm Jake has hit swathes of the UK, bringing winds of up to 81mph, snowfall and difficult driving conditions.

The Met Office has issued widespread yellow weather warnings for parts of Wales, England and Scotland for Thursday, Friday and Saturday as a band of wet weather moves eastwards followed by freezing temperatures under clearer skies.
