Today we would love to reminisce about two of the funniest and unique characters in the history of Nigerian movie production Aki and Pawpaw.

Aki and Pawpaw made us laugh out our hearts and neglect our sorrow, they carved a niche of their own and neglect every form of inferiority that was accustomed their meager and diminutive stature, they are larger than life and they would bring any giant down with their vicious personality.

Aki, real name Chinedu Ikedieze hails from Abia state and the hilarious movie persona received a lifetime Achievement Award at the 2007 African Movie Academy Awards. Aki is the older of the pair, he is currently 40-years-old and would turn 41 in December.
Pawpaw, born Osita Iheme in Imo state has been referred to as one of the best actors in this generation. He received a lifetime Achievement Award along with his perceived best friend Aki at the aforementioned award. In 2011, he was honored as a member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR).
The pair has acted in over 50 classic Nollywood movies together and they always leave their audience with jaw dropping exceptional hilarious performance. Several movie producers have tried to recreate characters like these childlike individuals, but they are prototypes that can never be imitated or reproduced because they are natural and true to themselves.
Aki and Pawpaw is Nigeria’s Tom and Jerry (and they had a movie titled after this cartoon), bread and butter is the food that best describes their union. They are perfect as one and today we celebrate them.
