The American has won his first title since returning following back surgery
An emotional Tiger Woods completed an astonishing comeback to win the season-ending Tour Championship by two shots and record his first win in five years.
Due to recurring back and back pains followed by four spinal fusion surgeries, he dropped to 1,199th in the world golf rankings and he confessed he might never return to competitive golf.
He was also sentenced to a year’s probation after pleading guilty to reckless driving (unexpected reactions to the combination of medications he was taking, after surgery on his back).
“I had to suck up the tough shots and I loved every minute of it,” Woods said. “At the beginning of the year, this was a tall order but I proved I could progress and put it together.
“I was trying hard not to cry during that final round and hole. Once I got the ball on the green, I gave Joey (LaCava) a high five”.
