The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), has pledged to support the present administration of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), to ensure proper care of employees at workplace.
Speaking recently in Lagos, the President of TUC, Comarde Bobboi Kaıgama, said the union would give the scheme the right backup and support as long as they keep to all the promises made to all Nigerians including the workers for effective and proper care. He noted that “In time past, many Nigerians and workers have lamented about poor care by NHIS, which caused the union and the scheme to go to court, but we hope this new partnerships should be able to address the challenges.”
He then appealed to the newly appointed chairman of NHIS, to address the faults made by the past regime, using the money that was made by the scheme to build primary health centres that was supposed to be built by local governments, instead of investing the money in the economy. Read more
