Madagascar is an island located off the eastern coast of Africa. It is the fourth largest island in the world and is famous for pepper, Vanilla, and Lemurs. It is a country that has an impressive reserve of natural resources but struggles economically due to political corruption, high poverty, and pestilence, including a recent outbreak of a rare pneumonic plague that left more than 200 people dead and more than 1,700 infected, according to the World Health Organization.
