The Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) has faulted the recent comments by Sokoto State Gov. Aminu Tambuwal against President Muhammadu Buhari, describing such as unfortunate, ill-conceived and a total assault on African cultural values. The Chairman and the Secretary of the group, Messrs Niyi Akinsiju and Cassidy Madueke, respectively, said this in a statement in Abuja on Saturday. The immediate past General Manager of Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA), Martin Ikechukwu Apugo has said that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is dead in Abia state and will never resurrect for any reason. Apugo said that the PDP has caused a lot of harm to the people of the state in the past twenty years they have been in power with misrule and that the people are tired of their bad successive governments. Flood: 3 feared killed, hundreds displaced in Yola (Guardian)

No fewer than three people have been killed and hundreds of people displaced following a monsoon rainfall in Adamawa. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a heavy rainfall was recorded in some areas of the state last Thursday night. NAN gathered that the affected areas included Yolde-Pate, Jambutu and Loko in Yola South, Yola North and Song Local Government Areas of the state, respectively. Reacting to the development, Dr Muhammad Suleiman, the Executive Secretary, Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), however said that only one person lost his live in the flood. Police nabs 5 rapists, 2 drug pushers in Katsina (Nation)

The Katsina state command of the Nigerian Police Force on Saturday announced the arrest of 5 serial rapists and 2 drug pushers that have been terrorizing the state for quite some time now The State Commissioner for Police, Mohammed Wakili, who made the above disclosure during a press briefing on the activities of the command at the command headquarter said those arrested to include Sani Haruna aged 30yrs and Nura Ibrahim aged 26yrs both of Unguwar Gambo village, Malumfashi LGA who conspired and raped a 9yr old girl, and as a result, she sustained serious injuries on her private. William Troost-Ekong joins Udinese (Soccernet)

Super Eagles defender, William Troost-Ekong has joined Udinese from Turkish Super Lig club Bursaspor, on a reported €3.3m deal. The centre-back who was an integral part of Nigeria’s team at the recently concluded FIFA World Cup joined Bursaspor from Gent in 2017 for €1m.

Autostrade pledges to rebuild collapsed Italy bridge (Reuters)

Italian toll-road operator Autostrade per l’Italia, which managed a bridge that collapsed in Genoa this week, pledged on Saturday to rebuild the viaduct. On Tuesday, a 200-metre section of the Morandi viaduct gave way in busy lunchtime traffic, killing at least 38 people and severing the city’s main land link with southern France. Autostrade Chief Executive Giovanni Castellucci, holding the firm’s first news conference since the disaster, said a new bridge would be built using funds from the roughly 500 million euros (448.52 million pounds) it had set aside for disaster recovery.
