The National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) says the party is proud of its governors and the achievements recorded in their various states. Secondus made the expression in his remarks at the send-off ceremony organised by the PDP Governors Forum for the outgoing Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose on Sunday night in Abuja. My Meeting in Abeokuta Was Not to Endorse Atiku – Kukah
The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Rev. Dr. Matthew Kukah, says the meeting with Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, was to witness the reconciliation of a prolonged dispute between the two leaders. Kukah said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Sokoto on Monday in reaction to concerns from some members of the public that his meeting with both leaders was for political reasons. The catholic bishop said that it was strictly to support and witness their reconciliation, which he has been trying to broker for some years.
Travellers Stranded As Protesters Shut Down Benin-Lagos Expressway
Motorists, travellers were stranded on the Benin-Lagos Expressway on Monday morning due to a protest by students of the Tayo Akpata University of Education, Ekiadolor, over the poor state of the institution. Residents of Ekiadolor community appear to have also joined the protest. The school is located in the Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State.
Imo Signs MoU with Chinese Firm on Solar Energy
The Imo State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a Chinese firm, Messrs Elion Global Resources, on solar energy/power generation and agro-based ventures. The Secretary to the Government of Imo State, Mark Uchendu, signed the MoU on behalf of the state government, while the Chief Executive Officer of Elion Global Resources, Mr. XU Weihui, signed on behalf of the company. The President of Elion Global Resources, Mr. Wang Wenbiao, had led a team of senior personnel of the company to meet with Governor Rochas Okorocha and other senior government functionaries at the Government House, Owerri weekend and the discussions at the meeting had given birth to the signing of the MoU.
2019: PDP Presents Certificates of Return to 41 Candidates in Niger
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Monday presented certificates of return to all the 41 candidates that won its primary elections and will fly the party’s flag in the 2019 general election. The presentation of the certificates was done by the state chairman of the party, Alhaji Tanko Beji, who directed the candidates to begin filling all the necessary forms provided by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Beji, who performed the ceremony before an overfilled auditorium of the state secretariat of the party in Minna, said the presidential candidate of the party and former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate Peter Obi had already collected the INEC forms.

Exam Malpractices: FG Charges Adeleke, 4 Others
The Federal Government has charged Senator Ademola Adeleke (Osun West) and four others before the Federal High Court, Abuja for allegedly engaging in examination malpractices. Adeleke and others were accused, in a four-count charge filed in the name of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of fraudulently, through personation, registering as students of Ojo-Aro Community Grammar School, Ojo-Aro Osun State to enable them sit for the National Examination Council (NECO) examination of June/July 2017.
Ex-Minister, 4 Others Reappear In Court Over Alleged N229m Money Laundering
The former Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Abdu Bulama and four others on Monday reappeared before a Federal High Court Damaturu on a seven-count charge of criminal conspiracy and money laundering. Bulama was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) with Mohammed Kadai, a former Commissioner for Integrated and Rural Development, Abba Tata, Hassan Ibn Jaks and Muhammad Mamu. The defendants are accused of criminal conspiracy and money laundering to the tune of N229 million.
Abuja IDPs Raise Alarm Over Snake Bite
Internally Displaced Persons residing at Gongola camp in the Federal Capital Territory, have appealed to relevant authorities to provide potable water and toilets, saying women were usually bitten by snakes while looking for water. This was revealed when a team of the National Task Group on Sanitation and non-governmental organisations like WaterAid and Action Against Hunger, visited the camp on Monday. The camp Chairman, Mr Joseph Jauro, called for immediate interventions from relevant stakeholders, saying this was necessary to forestall future occurrences.
FG Completes Warri-Ajaokuta-Itakpe Rail Line
The Federal Government (FG) has revealed it has completed the rail line from Warri Port through Ajaokuta to Itakpe. Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Hon. Abubakar Bwari said the completion of the ongoing works in Warri Port and the Escravos would ease access to the deep sea, and open up business opportunities for Ajaokuta and Delta steel Plants. He also said that the completion of the dredging of River Niger and almost completion of Warri port and the Escravos channel would facilitate export and import of goods through the Warri port using flat bottom vessels.
Coach Rohr Expects Tough Libya Rematch
Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr says he expects a challenging Africa Cup of Nations qualifier rematch against Libya on Tuesday despite trouncing the north Africans at the weekend. Arsenal centre-back Laurent Koscielny, who missed France’s World Cup triumph in Russia due to injury, said on Sunday his international career was “finished”. The 33-year-old had intended to retire from France duty following the tournament, but the defender was ruled out of Didier Deschamps’ squad for the finals after rupturing his Achilles tendon in May. “The injury is one thing, the World Cup win is another. Trump said on Monday he had dispatched Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to the region.
