The appointment of Mr Tokun Ajasin as Ondo state nominee on the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is causing outrage in the Ilaje oil communities of the state. Various groups and stakeholders in the area have been faulting the nomination of Ajasin, the son of the first executive governor of the state, Chief Adekunle Ajasin from Owo as State Commissioner for the interventionist agency.
In the past one week, newspapers and social media are being a washed with reactions on the nomination. Among the vocal groups are the Malokun Boys and Forest Soldiers on the creeks, the Coastal Frontiers, the Niger Delta Youths Movement(NDYM)and Niger Delta Christian Leaders Forum (NDCLF). All the aggrieved groups hinged their grievances on the alleged wrong choice of Ajasin as state representative for the commission.
The Niger Delta Christian Leaders (NDCL) petitioned President Muhammed Buhari over the issue. They personally moved to the presidency in Abuja to submit the letter.
