Your place or mine by Oshoko Bushushu

I met Ify at a client’s office. She has on white silk shirt, long boot cut black pants and blood red wedge. And she had some boobs on her.

I liked immediately. But there was no time. We had gone for a pitch and she had come for the same purpose but with a rival team.

They presented first and were leaving when we came in. We said hello and then she left.

About 10 minutes later I reached for my phone only to realise that it was not my phone that was ringing. The lady who vacated my seat had forgotten her iphone.

“This phone has been kidnapped,” I said as i picked the call.

“Sorry, who is this?” the female voice on the other end asked.

“My name is Oshoko. Who am I speaking with?”

“Ify. I dropped my phone. Can I get it back. I will pay, please.”

“How much?” I asked.

There was a moment of silence then she said.

“10k.”

“For an iphone?” I asked.

“Ok, how much do you want?”she asked and the desperation in her voice made me laugh.

“You left it inside Mando House. You should come get it.”

She was up in less than five minutes and as I handed it over I asked “Did you really mean it about paying?”

“Sure, I have lots of stuff in here,” she said dropping the phone in her bag.

“Well, you have to pay me then,” I said and her eyes lit up in surprise.

“I offered 10k you said no. Can’t do more than that o,” she said and laughed a nervous laugh.

“I don’t want money,” I said and held her gaze.

“What do you want?” she asked clearly intrigued.

“A date. Dinner and I will pay.”

“Dinner?” she repeated after me like it was the strangest word on earth.

Just then the lady we had come to see came out to usher us in.

“Here, my card, let’s talk,” I said and smiled.

She didn’t smile back but there was a twinkle in her eye.

I got into the room and switched off my phone then an hour later as we drove to the office i put on my phone and there was a message from Ify.

“Is it dinner you want or something else?”

I smiled and replied. “Something else.”

“Your place or mine? came her reply.

I had met my match.
